| Jamestowne Light Adjustable candlestands of this design were used in the 17th and early 18th centuries. Because of it's early origins, we call it the Jamestowne Light. Jamestowne, Virginia was first settled by the English in 1607, some 13 years before the Pilgrims landed at Plymith. The candle arm can be adjusted up and down the central shaft by pressing down on the thumb latch. The arm can then be locked in place by pressing up on the thumb latch. The latch is a simple wooden wedge that is captured in a tapered slot of the candle arm. Typically painted with a very durable paint made of milk, lime, and earth colors. |
